- Basically, this game has its heart in the right place, but could not realize its potential. Still Games seemed to be more concerned about telling a story and incorporated gameplay as an afterthought, but ended up failing to deliver at both. It’s a tedious game that this title may have been served best as a cheaper iOS game for those boring bus rides to and from work.

In this instance, we can’t help but suspect that telling the story was the priority, and the gameplay was a simple afterthought - a necessity to aid the tale that’s being told. What we’re given is so basic that you can’t help but feel a little cheated.
Ewan Moore · Oct 19, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Animal Gods is an art platformer game that's impressive to look at, like a museum of different pieces all arranged together. There's enough challenge in the gameplay to string you along as you're exploring this colorful world. The tranquility of the sounds might be peppered with the occasional cursing at your screen for making a simple mistake.
Nick Monroe · Oct 17, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While Animal Gods is beautiful and charming to look at, the gameplay is simple and feels extremely generic.
Steven Stites · Oct 13, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Perhaps the wealth of indie content available has turned us into snobs, but by putting the game up for sale it automatically opens itself up to such comparison – and it just doesn’t offer a comparable quality. In truth there’s no real ire to be aimed at Animal Gods, it is neither offensive nor agreeable – and often providing no emotion is often worse than creating a negative one.
gamesTM · Nov 23, 2015 Reviewed on PC - However, even the most cynical observer would expect more from it than this. This is a vacuous mockery of the titles that inspired it, a boring art project at best, and a $10 insult to the customer's intelligence at worst.
