- When all was said and done it wrapped up in a handful of hours at most and I was left craving more. It’s especially a let down because the game invents such new ways of thinking about the horror genre, and it left so much to be expanded on. However, I honestly have to applaud the team for delivering a concise and complete story in that amount of time, and one that is so unique to the horror realm at that.
Caitlin Cooke · Jan 04, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Among the Sleep could have offered a fresh take in what is a painstakingly underused concept in games. Sadly, with a game that risks playing out the same formula ad nauseam, there’s little in the way of a compelling narrative or set of gameplay circumstances that make Krillbite Studio’s efforts look anything other than introductory.
Jordan Helm · Dec 24, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Between the average presentation, short play time, and predictable story, Among the Sleep is a game best purchased on sale, and is, perhaps ironically, only recommended for horror game junkies.
Paulmichael Contreras · Dec 23, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - A curious, frightful take on childhood trauma that whips up scares from the most seemingly mundane sources. Among the Sleep is unpolished and scrappy, yet eerily memorable.
Dave Meikleham · Dec 08, 2015 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The revelatory finale will leave you winded, but also heartened by Krillbite’s assertion that firstperson horror needn’t be confined by crumbling walls and straitjackets.
Edge Staff · Jul 01, 2014 Reviewed on - Among the Sleep is a surprisingly bad execution of a deceptively weak idea. Playing it, it’s hard not to feel deceived; I can only imagine how backers of the game will respond to this return on their investment. The game isn’t without its merits.
Geoff Thew · Jun 14, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - But the world it conceives and the way it conceives it, from closets that stretch into dark tunnels to toys that come to life, build a great atmosphere that certainly makes Among The Sleep worth exploring.
Phil Hornshaw · Jun 06, 2014 Reviewed on PC - The mechanics are underused and are even frustrating at times, but it’s psychological approach and poignant conclusion distinguish it from a lot of the games that simply resort to shock tactics.
Daniel Krupa · Jun 05, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A child shouldn’t have to go through this, and yet there it is; and if the developer wasn’t able to pull the experience together as effectively as it might have, it still deserves credit for having the boldness to try, and to not shy away from the unavoidable outcomes of its creation.
Andy Chalk · Jun 02, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Among the Sleep succeeds at being a creepy baby simulator, but the real monster turns out to be boring, buggy puzzles and a shallow world and story.
