- Amnesia: The Bunker is a truly terrifying experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat and your sanity. The overall experience is thrilling amidst all the horror, leaving me (almost) craving more. Almost.
Cassie Peterson · Sep 21, 2023 Reviewed onRead full review - Amnesia: The Bunker is an amazing step forward for the franchise that isn’t afraid to experiment on established mechanics without deviating too much from its DNA. For survival horror fans, even those who aren’t fans of the run-and-hide formula of the previous Amnesia games, the Bunker is a must to experience.
Jarren Navarrete · Jul 25, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Underwhelming ending aside, Amnesia: The Bunker is an excellently crafted survival horror, with plenty of tension, dread, near misses and clever puzzles to keep us coming back for more.
Jamie Collyer · Jun 21, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - It falters a bit in its story, which is suitably mysterious and mystical, but at least partially predictable from a very early stage. It doesn't drag the experience down too much, but just enough. Still, it feels like a best-in-class dread simulator that doesn't overload you with a series of ever changing objectives, keeping your mission tight and focused throughout, allowing that sense of dread to be its main propellant.
Jordan Helsley · Jun 17, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The intimate world, wonderfully interwoven mechanics, and semi-random nature make The Bunker a nerve-racking experience that’s a natural evolution of its landmark first entry. On a surface level, it’s still about creeping through a dimly lit hellhole and evading unspeakable horrors, but Frictional has spent the last decade advancing that formula to create the best version of it so far.
Michael Leri · Jun 16, 2023 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Amnesia: The Bunker is another Frictional Games classic, pitting players against a truly terrifying foe while providing immersive elements that are constantly engaging. While the AI can leave a bit to be desired, the atmosphere and story will keep players on their toes.
Alyssa Hatmaker · Jun 15, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Amnesia: The Bunker lacks the story-telling and emotional heft of the previous games in the series. But, if you are in the mood for a scary and tense game of cat and mouse, this game will satisfy your needs.
Lou Sytsma · Jun 11, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Amnesia: The Bunker feels like a stunning return to form for Frictional Game. The story is intriguing and mysterious, the bunker itself is dark and terrifying, and the non-linear gameplay structure gives it endless replay value. While it does have some reliance on horror-game tropes (light is safe, noise is bad, etc) it has weaved all of these mechanics together into a perfect blend that will likely keep horror gamers happy for a long time. That’s assuming they can stop pissing themselves long enough to actually finish the game.
William Worrall · Jun 08, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Amnesia: The Bunker is a nightmare wrapped in a WW1 aesthetic with a vicious sprinkle of otherworldly horror. The notes might be tedious to find but it’s a different form of storytelling that will have you wanting to find them all just to get all the details as what happened. You might not be afraid of the dark but you definitely will be after this game, even more so when it comes to the things that go bump or growl in the night.
R3GR3T · Jun 08, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Previous Amnesia games have repeatedly fallen behind the horror that haunted the castle in the original game, but Amnesia: The Bunker is already showing potential in this regard. The Bunker still feels like an exciting and increasingly important step forward for the Amnesia series. Players will love the change in the scale of the gameplay, the bigger storytelling, and the new ways to interact with the world.
