- 7.0 Amnesia: Rebirth is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC and Switch 2. Reviewed on Nintendo Switch 2.
· Jul 19, 2026 Reviewed on Switch 2Read full review - There are some puzzles we got hung up on for a bit longer than we'd like, and the story is a bit vague at times, but this is still an enjoyable adventure overall and one we can definitely recommend for Game Pass players, especially those looking for an immersive horror experience.
Ben Kerry · Oct 20, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Amnesia: Rebirth works. While starting out a bit slow with too many flashbacks, the game picks itself up later on and gives you some great moments of shock and fear, as well as proper puzzles. The combinations of delicate (new) mechanics, such as realistic matches that can easily be wasted, are smart, and Rebirth does justice to its name. It’s fresh, evolved, and a great addition to the Amnesia series if you like tension and mystery combined.
Pimp Without The Pee · Dec 02, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It has an equally compelling protagonist and intriguing narrative that fleshes out the lore of the orbs and the shadow that stalks those foolish enough to wield them. The environments and puzzles are more varied, the creatures grotesquely inspired and terrifying, while the presentation will leave you unsettled and on edge throughout your playtime (despite some rough edges).
Andrew Logue · Nov 06, 2020 Reviewed on PC, PS4Read full review - Amnesia Rebirth’s story could be considered disturbing. Though to those who played the previous installments, that shouldn’t come as a surprise. Rebirth doesn’t just input fear in you by showing you the tortured forms of man but horrifies you as well by showing you the darkest actions of what man is capable of. If you have the stomach to brave Tasi’s journey, then I fully recommend trying out Rebirth for yourself.
Jarren Navarrete · Nov 05, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Amnesia: Rebirth is not as scary as The Dark Descent, but it’s perfectly okay for a game to be “not quite as scary as one of the best horror games of all time.” If you can scrape away that layer of mild disappointment, you’ll be treated to a fine horror adventure – one that plays on different fears, one that expands on the hazy lore behind the franchise without ruining the mystery, and one that still had me clenching my nethers for good long stretches of its runtime.
Nathaniel Berens · Nov 03, 2020 Reviewed on PC, PS4Read full review - Overall, Rebirth is a deeper game than Dark Descent, which had a more visceral impact because it was a new experience and relied much more on jump scares. Still, because the questions being asked of Tasi require more thought from the player, the decisions made linger and their consequences will haunt you long after finishing the game.
Lou Sytsma · Oct 31, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Amnesia: Rebirth is a return to Frictional Games breakthrough franchise. It might not be as terrifying or tense as the original game and this will surely disappoint some fans. But for me, there was enough horror mixed into the top notch storytelling to provide one of the best survival horror experiences I’ve played in years. Tasi’s journey is one that I will remember, even if the ending falls flat.
Kyle Nicol · Oct 30, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Amnesia: Rebirth is a worthy addition to a classic series. It buries the player deep in an oppressive atmosphere of fear like a gravedigger spading dirt onto a coffin. If the state of the world today isn’t terrifying enough for you, picking up Amnesia: Rebirth will certainly sate your lust for scares.
Jonathan Trussler · Oct 28, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - With a tighter script and more polish, this could've been a fantastic game that paralleled the trauma of child loss to the evil enterprise of colonial expansion. Instead, it's one that insincerely mines trauma from a colonizer's perspective... then asks you to do a half-hearted physics puzzle. Ultimately, Amnesia: Rebirth may be a rebirth of the popular franchise, but it's barely a refinement of it.
