  • Amanda the Explorer is a short but effective little horror game that might contain a lot of cliché tropes, but manages to execute them in a way that keeps us engaged. While it takes some puzzle work, the underlying plot is honestly rather interesting and we enjoyed the overall creepiness of this one. It’s a good start to what is shaping to be a series of games.

  • You’ll be impressed by the concept and execution of Amanda the Adventurer. It’s dark, disturbing, funny, and entertaining. However, I wish the gameplay offered more hints, particularly regarding the multiple endings. After finding two endings, I likely would have given up without consulting an online guide, which would have been a shame. Ultimately, Amanda the Adventurer will succeed in reawakening those childhood nightmares, and for that, we should both thank and curse it.

  • Amanda the Adventurer é um escape room que estimula a criatividade e se destaca por ser desafiador, mesmo enquanto um projeto bastante acessível. Simples no conceito, mas complexo na narrativa, ele funcionaria muito bem como filme de terror psicológico

  • This is an incredibly short experience, with even thorough exploration only really taking a couple of hours, but it’s just the right size for what it is. I found plenty of atmospheric moments and had a lot of enjoyment trying to figure out the puzzles. On the other hand, I also did find one or two of those puzzles a little frustrating, and it’s certainly true that anyone who can’t resist googling answers is going to find this experience shallow.

  • Overall, Amanda the Adventurer does a pretty good job staying interesting all throughout the playthrough. The main gameplay isn’t very engaging and some of the puzzles don’t make sense, which can make certain parts of the game very frustrating to play. The game disappoints massively after experiencing the betas. The solution to the mystery is very underwhelming and makes the story much worse than it had the potential to be.

About the game

Having inherited their Aunt Kate’s house, Riley Park starts exploring what the reclusive woman left behind. In the attic, Riley is surprised to find a stack of VHS tapes next to an old TV set. The tapes seem to be episodes of an early 2000’s era children’s cartoon they have never seen before. Intrigued, Riley pops the first tape into the VCR. Not the highest budget production from the looks of it. It appears to have been made locally and features a little girl named Amanda and her loyal yet shy best friend, Wooly the Sheep. While the episode appears charming and simple on the surface, an uneasiness starts to settle in as Riley realizes that Amanda and Wooly seem to be communicating directly through the television set. A gnawing feeling in the back of their mind presses them to stop, but Riley is compelled to continue watching the tapes. It’s almost as if Amanda needs something, and Riley becomes fascinated with finding out what that something may be.
