- There are a few stumbles here and there, but Alphadia Genesis reflects many smart choices. The story is strong, the characters leave an impression, and the battling has depth. If you’re a genre fan looking for a slice of RPG nostalgia, this game has both quantity and quality.
Trevor Gould · Aug 17, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Alphadia Genesis does have a couple redeeming factors. The music is pretty good, and the (Japanese only) voice acting is relatively solid when it comes up. The main party sprites look nice, and I personally enjoyed the PS1-esque graphics during battle. But, none of these are reasons to play the game, only nice little tidbits to make the quest a little less dull.
Elizabeth Henges · Feb 15, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Alphadia Genesis should take you about 15 hours to finish, so at the low price I’d recommend this game to any JRPG fan. Either play it for the first time or on yet another console. The story and general gameplay hasn’t changed, but the mechanics and controller schemes have. While you can choose between easy or normal, I’d say the experienced JRPG fan won’t run into any terribly difficult aspects.
Andrew Clouther · Jan 12, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Any predictability in the RPG tale is countered with other plot twists that can make many to cry at the end, something countered by the plentiful humour throughout the tale. It will get replayed in due course because leaving the characters at the end was hard: their personalities are memorable, and being with them is an enjoyable experience.
Nayu · Dec 28, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - In fact Alphadia Genesis on Xbox One is a game of two halves, and I don’t just mean the 2D/3D interface. One the one hand, the story is good, and does have certain echoes in the events that are playing out in the world today – you will want to see it to its conclusion. On the other hand, the grind is very real, and while the first time you use a skill that you’ve earned brings about some novelty, the rest of the time it’s very much just “some RPG”.
Paul Renshaw · Jul 13, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Considering this was first a mobile title and made by a company that doesn't have a great track record when it comes to quality JRPGs, Alphadia Genesis is a surprisingly enjoyable experience. There are plenty of issues, ranging from a lacklustre story to some exhausting combat mechanics, and the game does end up rather overstaying its welcome towards the end.
Nikola Suprak · Aug 12, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Alphadia Genesis is an old-school story-driven RPG through and through so if that's your cup of tea then you'll thoroughly enjoy what it has to offer. Plus, its charming cast of characters are sure to delight from start to finish.

This causes tensions to run high, as the Archleign and Ghalzabine Kingdoms have shared an uneasy relationship since the clone-centric ‘Energi War’ 15 years prior to the joint investigation.
Twists and turns lie await as Fray and his fellow investigators soon discover that there may be more than meets the eye with this particular case...
