- For those who want a more narrative-focused experience with a bit of gameplay set amongst a romantic Sci-fi theme, I would certainly recommend this game to you. It’s an incredibly endearing adventure, and with two different endings and multiple love interests, I would say doing more than one play-through is absolutely worth it.
Thi Chao · Jul 29, 2021 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All definitions of ‘game’ aside, Alone With You is an impressive affair that I recommend to anyone who has an affinity for science fiction narratives and/or interactive storytelling. Its tale is both haunting and human, incisively reflective and extremely well told.
Sophie Halliday · Feb 21, 2017 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Alone With You boasts a charming retro audiovisual aesthetic and some really strong character work, all underpinned by an intriguing central mystery. Unfortunately, getting to these moments involves repetitive, uninventive gameplay that can be a slog to get through.
Kervyn Cloete · Feb 14, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Ultimately, Alone with You is a satisfying, if occasionally hard-going, experience. It loses a mark for its saggy middle but it redeems itself with a cast of nuanced characters and a well-earned conclusion. With this title — and horror game, Home — under his belt, it’s evident that Benjamin Rivers is a talent to watch and his next game should be anticipated.
Daniel New · Sep 07, 2016 Reviewed onRead full review - Its issues are fundamental to enjoying a game in the way of the actual gameplay, but everything that surrounds it is endearing. What the game needed was more meaningful play segments instead of the abundance of shallow scavenging and puzzle solving. But what is does get abundantly right is its unique tone, powerful narrative, masterful writing, and a visual style that fooled me into underestimating it makes it worthy of praise.
Ahmed Mohamed · Aug 29, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - In summary, Alone With You is a game of two halves: one of brilliance and the other of redundancy. The game comes across as being unsure of what it really wants to be and how it wishes to be portrayed. Whereas its story is heartfelt, engaging and intriguing, the game’s characters are not. Although the game’s beautiful art-style and atmospheric soundtrack immerse the player within the experience, its gameplay detracts from the experience and removes the immersion entirely.
Alex Decker · Aug 27, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This is a game that warrants repeated playthroughs to see both endings and experience other relationship choices. Alone With You bears some heavy thematic overlap with recent games like SOMA, Everyone’s Gone to Rapture, and other story-centric releases that focus on the nature of what makes you human, the importance of relationships and contact, and mortality.
Jason D'Aprile · Aug 26, 2016 Reviewed onRead full review - Alone With You delivers a wonderful but bleak tale of tragedy, while combining both classic and newer gameplay styles that demonstrates a phenomenal experience.
spritesnbytes · Aug 23, 2016 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Alone With You is an endearing adventure, albeit a flawed one. Despite its dark subject matter, it somehow remains to have a lighthearted tone with its pastel, washed-out aesthetic. I admired the different locations and existential tone, but longed for a more captivating storyline. Like the holographic cast it chronicles, this experience lacks a distinct personality, leaving it as a charming but forgettable adventure.
Elise Favis · Aug 22, 2016 Reviewed on PS4 - Alone With You truly is special. The unassuming nature of its visuals didn’t prepare me for how impactful the narrative was going to be. It may not be the most involved of games, but it latches onto your heart and doesn’t let go. The game sticks with you well after the credits. I’ll gladly be replaying this to see the different conversation trees. It’s really cool how no two people will have the exact same playthrough, yet the game will still cover the same themes and motifs.
