Critic Reviews
- This is all to say that if you want a way to play Alien: Isolation on a phone or tablet, it's hard to imagine a better end product than Feral Interactive's port of the title. I'm just not so sure this was a great kind of game to try and bring to the platform, as almost everything about it runs counter to how many folks (myself included) tend to engage in mobile play.
Campbell Bird · Dec 20, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Alien: Isolation, this is a fantastic way to do so and one of the best iOS conversions ever.
Mikhail Madnani · Dec 16, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - If it's not immediately apparent, I am a huge fan of Alien: Isolation, and I'm glad it received such an excellent port for the Switch. It's by no means a perfect game, but it excels at almost everything it sets out to do. It has an incredibly detailed and faithful presentation and is a unique attempt to capture the essence of the franchise in an interactive experience.
Andreas Salmen · Feb 13, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The story itself could be forgettable, taking second place to the mechanics and ‘action’ of the game, but each NPC and hacked computer adds an extra layer to not only Amanda’s story, but to the universe of the franchise. Rarely do I hunt out terminals to read emails and reports from faceless characters, but here, each screen of text added to the journey.
Alex Seedhouse · Jan 08, 2020 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Alien Isolation provides an utmost emotionally pulling experience, and runs flawlessly on the Nintendo Switch. The game truly is a testament to what can be done by third-party developers and porting studios.
Seth Cano · Dec 31, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Alien: Isolation on the Switch is fantastic, and is most definitely a game that deserves a spot on your shelf. Even five years later, Isolation continues to be a horror tour-de-force that will have you wishing you could play something rated ‘E’ for everyone instead. Bring a pair of headphones and do your best to get over that input lag, and you’ll find yourself in the midst of the best port this console has seen to date. You may also want to bring a portable charger as this thing is an absolute battery killer, but hey, when you look this good and feel this good, I don’t mind.
Rhett Waselenchuk · Dec 18, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Although Alien: Isolation wanders somewhat to its conclusion, it’s a thrilling, chilling, tense and unnerving video game. It’s also that rarest of things, an excellent game based on a movie license. The sparkling port from Feral Interactive and wealth of DLC content make this an essential Nintendo Switch release.
Daniel New · Dec 17, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Alien Isolation is an essential horror game, and the Nintendo Switch version might even be the very best place to play it, as long as you can ignore the caveats mentioned above. With excellent picture and audio quality, thick atmosphere, and a beautiful aesthetic, it is one of the most interesting licensed games ever released, and a great stealth horror title to enjoy.
Dave Aubrey · Dec 12, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Alien Isolation is a great game marred with problems that make it frustrating the longer it goes on, and it goes on for a lot longer than it should. I love the ideas, I love the environments and the atmosphere and I wanted to love the entire game, but it kept giving me reasons not to. In the end I recommend it to fans of horror games, and those obsessed with the Alien universe.
Ken McKown · Oct 17, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Luckily, none of these minor annoyances do enough to ruin this game. It is a chilling, suspenseful and downright terrifying love letter to fans of the Alien franchise. Hell, you can still get enjoyment out of Alien: Isolation if you’ve never even seen one of the movies. Its ability to create that tense feeling of utter helplessness is second to none and something we haven’t seen done this well in a long time.
