- AEW: Fight Forever is a budget game at a premium price. What it's offering it does pretty well, but it's hard to rectify the feeling with the cost. Analyzing the price of games today is a tricky proposition, but it stands out as an example of missing the mark by just enough.
Jordan Helsley · Aug 08, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - To sum it up, AEW Fight Forever is a good game that has tons of potential. If I were to recommend it to those who are new to wrestling games, I could but for those who are veterans of these types of games, I wouldn’t recommend it. It lacks the appeal it needs to stay active for at least half a year and it would have appealed to a much larger audience if it took some cues from contemporaries like WWE 2K23. At the very least, it should try to find ways to stay up-to-date with current happenings within AEW.
Conrad Huang · Aug 04, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Fans of All Elite Wrestling should feel quite comfortable within the sometimes goofy but always engaging AEW: Fight Forever. Technically, there’s room for improvement, but the game nails the AEW tone and arcade gameplay that are the reasons many wrestling game fans have been seeking for quite some time.
Kirk Hiner · Jul 12, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The gameplay on offer here is certainly a solid, if flawed, base to build off for future updates. There just isn’t very much to do at present. The game does succeed in capturing the overall fun-loving spirit of the promotion, and If the developers stick to their plans to add modes, wrestlers, and additional creation suite options (as well as putting time and effort in to squash the clipping and AI issues) they could have something good here in 6-8 months.
Ryan · Jul 07, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The graphics are also quite dated, even when playing on the latest and greatest hardware. This does not affect the score of this review in any way, as the gameplay is mostly solid. For a debut console title for AEW, there is plenty to be excited about. AEW: Fight Forever is a fun time, alone or with friends. It doesn’t take itself so seriously with its arcade-style gameplay.
MChipmunks · Jul 04, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - There’s no question in my mind that AEW’s game debut is the best wrestling game we’ve had on a Nintendo console in more than a decade. But as a multiplatform game, the Switch is clearly struggling to handle it, which is odd as THQ Nordic ports on Switch tend to run on par with their counterparts on other consoles
Donald Theriault · Jul 03, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, AEW: Fight Forever is a fantastic pickup for fans of the company who want to experience many of its roster in video game form for the first time, but it does lack the polish of not only past and present WWE games, but other Yuke’s titles as well. The foundation is solid, but the package is a bit bare-bones and match flow isn’t on-par with what one would expect for a roster full of talent known for epic matches. The core action is fun, as is the story mode — which is one area Yuke’s topples any modern-day WWE game in.
Jeremy Peeples · Jul 03, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - When Yukes and Kenny Omega stated they were looking to bring back the glory days of N64 wrestling titles I was on-board. As a fellow student of those times, there’s a clunky charm to AEW: Fight Forever with its meaty feeling moves and arcade-style action. However, those days were far longer ago than I care to think about, and younger players will have gotten used to a more fluid and fully featured sports entertainment game.
Jamie Collyer · Jul 02, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - AEW: Fight Forever has a sturdy foundation for an incredible wrestling jaunt, but it hasn’t yet been built up to meet its true potential. Yes, the gameplay is a blast, without a doubt, but what the title offers is barebones. One of the most requested modes was General Manager. Yukes have done it in the past, and I know it was foregone because of the mobile game’s existence, but that decision prevents their console effort from flourishing. They’re purposely holding it down.
FerniWrites · Jul 02, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Behind a terrific and exciting wrestling system in AEW Fight Forever is some odd choices, unfortunate hiccups, annoying quirks, and dumb limitations. Yukes fulfilled their promise to make an arcade game that felt like No Mercy. The problem is that we should have been more careful about what we wished for because a game made in the 90s is lacking a lot of important stuff.
