- A Space for the Unbound is an example of an adventure story that will have the surprising and far-reaching power to move most people, whether or not they enjoy the ride the gameplay presents. It will particularly appeal to those players who have a fondness for the 16-bit console era, and those who like cats!
Alberto Lloret · May 26, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A Space for the Unbound is a beautiful game with a lot of heart which will delight any fan of narrative games. While those who enjoy purely gameplay-focused titles won’t find much here, this is something quite common for this specific genre of games.
Noparg · Mar 16, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A Space for the Unbound doesn’t particularly impress with its gameplay but the excellent art direction, strong cast, and gripping narrative make the game definitely worth playing. The unnecessary padding prevents the game from really reaching the same heights as its predecessor but that was a very high bar to clear anyway, and we’d still say that this game manages to feel special.
SebastiaanRaats · Feb 15, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A Space For The Unbound is an unforgettable gem that finds a magnificent nexus point between a relaxing slice-of-life adventure and a supernatural exploration of mental anguish. It explores trauma made manifest within dreamscapes that bend time and space while engrossing players in a captivating rural Indonesian setting that begs to be explored.
Corvo Rohwer · Feb 09, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - In terms of presentation everything is spot on too, with the pixel art visuals feeling fresh instead of tired – and there are numerous playful nudges and winks towards games that the developers obviously grew up loving and playing to death.
Simon Reed · Feb 09, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Underneath the layers of cute pixelated art and a calming lofi-like OST is a short yet memorable story. It will leave you in need of Atma to dive into your heart after it is shattered time and time again by the tales to be told of feeling fearful of one’s future.
Keyatta Brooks · Feb 08, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - A Space for the Unbound offers a remarkable and moving narrative about rediscovering oneself. It’s a gripping and memorable experience. Despite a few flaws, everyone should play it because of its compelling story and excellent visuals.
Vednor · Feb 06, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It proudly stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of To the Moon and Rakuen with its impeccably unique flair, ready to laugh with players during the high moments and cry with them in its lows.
Heather Johnson Yu · Jan 25, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A Space for the Unbound is a pleasant surprise to me in many ways. I started out with a preconceived notion of what it would be about, only to have that turned on its head in a rather alarming way. The tale it tells instead is genuinely haunting and upsetting, but one with a powerful and altogether touching ending.
